Maybe it's something in the autumn air, or something about filing the paperwork that starts our "official school year" (tongue so far into cheek I'm in danger of choking), but I'm feeling a need to evaluate and examine. Specifically, I'd like very much to know what works at Words On Us and what doesn't.
We have a lot of readers on these forums. I don't mind being the one doing most of the chatting, but I hope that you'll take just a minute -- two or three words would be great -- to tell me what you look for at Words On Us.
Is it the homeschooling stuff -- the Question of the Day, the Mouths of Babes? Do you prefer the literary essays? Do you wish the Book Lady would get off her duff and answer some more book questions, already? I'm putting together a resource list for beginning homeschoolers -- is that the sort of thing you're glad to hear is in the works, or are there other things you wish I'd focus on?
Thank you so much for your time and your thoughts.
This is just a small idea rather than a profound thought, but it would be so nice if, on the home page, there was a teaser showing what the latest post is in each section. That would give us readers both some incentive to click around further, and also the ability quickly to note if there's something new that we haven't read yet. It also gives the new reader some insight into what's inside.
Thank you, Debra. How can you call that "small" and "not profound"? It's exactly the kind of thing I need to hear, it's to the point, and it's doable. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
I appreciate knowing I'm reading along with someone else, even if it is centuries old tragedy! (nod and wink to Deb)
Sorry I don't post more, but time seems so short and my poor little hands are typing as fast as they can in other venues when I get the chance to be on the keyboard. (Coaching plans, homeschooling research, family obligations like Grandma's photos and my own paying work...excuses, excuses.)
Plus, I don't have NEARLY the insight Deb does! Thanks for all the additional information about the age, the culture, the color that really fills out these ancient tales.
Keep on tappin' the keyboard, Deb. :) And thanks for the spurs.
