First, since the in-person group is still comparatively small, I'd really like to make it possible for everyone who wants to come to attend. Looking over all the feedback I've received, it seems like every weeknight is problematic for someone. Would a Saturday night work? I was thinking, since this will give us oodles of time to finish the book, of the first Saturday in October, which would be October 7. Let me know if this works or not. And please do *not* feel like a trouble-maker if you have to say it doesn't. I really hate the idea of someone who wants to come thinking, "Oh, I can't make it that night, but I don't want them to have to rearrange everything for little old me. Maybe I can go next time." I'm sorry, but the whole point of these meetings is for us to *meet*! You know -- as a group! How are we going to do that if you can't come and don't let me help make it so you *can*? What if *everybody* did that? That wouldn't be a meeting! That would be me eating all the brownies alone! And yes, it's a tempting thought; but I can do that any old time. Let's make this work.
Also, what time is better: seven-thirty, or eight o'clock? I'm not the one who has to schlep over here, so let me know. Do you need the extra half-hour to get here, or would you rather start the meeting earlier so you can leave earlier without missing out on anything?
Thanks and have fun. I'll freely admit that I've been so busy reading *about* the book that I've hardly started the text itself; on the other hand, I'm putting together what I hope will be a fun piece on who the heck this Homer guy is, since his identity is shrouded in mystery. We don't even know if Homer was his name! Fascinatin'.
That day would work for me! And I wouldn't mind doing it earlier in the evening but 7:30 is fine too. I'm pretty darn agreeable and on top of that I have nothing better to do at this point! Ha!
Wow, Saturday evenings actually work for me, and I'm free October 7th. This means I may finally get to taste (I mean eat several of) your brownies! I'd also prefer earlier--like 7:00, so it doesn't get too far into the overtired meltdown state at home by the time I get back. But 7:30 is fine too.
Deborah and my Demon Readin' peers - I'd love to make it down, but the drive's a bit much for me at this point. I'll remain an electronic gadget member until I can swing a trip south. (Those brownies are SURE tempting, though!)

I wish you could come by, Jen, but am very glad to at least have the opportunity to talk to you here.
So far it's looking good for October 7th; and it looks as if earlier is better, so let's aim for 7:30. If I'm not broke and they're still in season, I want to offer something called dragon fruit along with the brownies. Anyone ever heard of it? It's absolutely the most surreal thing I've ever seen. I was lucky enough to have a good-natured clerk at the grocery store cut one open for me when I expressed curiosity. Bright, almost neon purple fruit. And at fifteen dollars a pound, the guy was pouring money down the drain opening one up for me and my son to try, since these things are chunky and dense -- one of them alone is easily ten dollars worth of fruit. But yummy, and not something you see every day! I have no idea how long they stay in season, but if I can get them, they'll be here!
I am looking forward to meeting everyone. Saturday is great for me. That is if Newbies are invited? I think I like being referred to as a Newbie, I haven't been new at much of anything for a long time
Newbies?? We love newbies!! We'll eat you up, we love you so! Whoops, sorry -- when I get tired I tend to start quoting great works of literature like "Where the Wild Things Are." Please come on by!
